To replace your old rubber tracks and fit new ones to your machine, follow this easy step by step installation guide. You will require at least two people to safely and correctly perform the installation.
Step 1: Remove the grease fitting using a wrench/adjustable spanner. Step down onto the bottom of the track to collapse the idler, releasing the track tension. Inspect the grease fitting and replace if required.
Step 2: Apply downward force to the front blade of your machine, until the front of the rubber track moves upwards. To lift the other end of the track upwards, rotate the boom to the opposite side and lift. The track should now be suspended.
Step 3: For safety reasons place a heavy-duty jack underneath the undercarriage, to avoid the machine collapsing causing injury.
Step 4: Manually remove one end of the track from the sprocket teeth. If this is not possible start the machine and slowly move it forward as someone then uses a pry bar to remove the track from the sprocket teeth.
Step 5: Pull the track away from the machine and lift it off using a forklift. When the rubber track has been removed inspect the undercarriage for any sign of damage or wear. Clean and remove any excess dirt and debris.
Step 6: Move the new rubber track into position beside the machine. Hook the track onto the sprocket teeth at the back of the machine.
Step 7: Have someone push the track forward, whilst you use the pry bar to align the front of the track into position on the front idler.
Step 8: Once fitted move the machine forwards and backwards a few times to ensure the track has been installed correctly and there are no obstructions.
Step 9: Raise the boom to lower the rear of the track to the floor gently. Lift the blade to lower the front of the track back down to the ground.
Step 10: Your machine is now ready to operate.
