The first question you should be asking before selecting a rubber track is what surfaces am I going to be working on? Rubber tracks work well on paved or concrete surfaces, creating little noise, a smoother ride and leaving no damage. Rubber tracks performance best on lawn, turf or landscaped surfaces, whereas. tyres are known to bog in sandy or wet ground, and steel tracked machines will cut and disrupt turf roots. Rubber tracks are cost efficient, easy to install and easy to maintain.
Benefits of Rubber Pads
Rubber pads are simple and easy to install, fitting directly onto existing steel tracked machines such as excavators, profilers, and drill equipment to alleviate surface damage caused by steel tracked machines. Rubber pads are ideal for use on sealed surface applications.
There are three types of Rubber Pads you can choose from:
As the name suggest, these attach to your steel tracks directly. Hardy and secure, bolt-on pads utilise the pre-drilled holes in your grouser shoes. If your existing tracks are compatible, then these can be an enduring, economical upgrade to a rubber pad.
Useable where pre-drilled holes do not exist, clip-on pads attach to the steel grousers through bolt attached, heavy duty brackets on each side. Even if your vehicle is compatible with bolt-on, using a clip-on pad allows more efficient installation and replacement. The perception that clip-on pads are less durable is incorrect. Clip-on pads are made heavier, with rubber overlaid on a steel plate, and can out-perform other rubber pads options.
Attaching directly to the chain, chain-on pads are the least harmful pads to your site and road ways. Often associated with Komatsu equipment, chain-on pads bolt directly to the chain of your steel undercarriage. Unlike clip-on or bolt-on, there is no exposed steel surfaces on the track. This ensures that any mistakes made on site, like running alongside curbing or other fragile materials, leave no expensive damage. Chain-on offer all the benefits of a steel undercarriage with all the protections of fully rubber contact surfaces.
